What to Expect

Expect1Where do I go for Sunday worship services?
We meet for worship at two sites:
Batavia Campus – Sundays - 9:00 & 10:30 a.m.
Our downtown Batavia campus is located on Route 31, just north of Wilson Street. Parking and easiest access is found on the East side of the building, off Water Street. This entrance has automatic doors and access to the elevator.  On Sunday mornings we reserve the parking lot for those with special needs. Additional parking is found all along Water Street, by our Community Building, and in the community parking lot on the East side of Water Street. You may enter from Route 31 or Water Street for Sunday worship. When you enter from the Water Street doors, take a look to your left and you will see a table with coffee, lemonade, and donut holes. Please stop by for refreshments and time to mingle.
The sanctuary is located on the third floor. You may take the elevator or the stairs.
If you have small children, feel free to take them to our fully staffed nursery, located on the 2nd floor (go through two sets of double doors directly across from the stairs or elevator). After you’ve met the nursery staff, continue through the large room and up the stairs to enter the sanctuary.
Flowing Grace Worship Site - Sundays - 10:00 a.m.
Flowing Grace meets at Aurora Christian school (high school campus), 2255 Sullivan Road in Aurora. You will see our sign at the entrance and folks are waiting just inside those doors to greet you.

Expect6What style of worship do you offer?
Our Batavia campus offers a more traditional setting, with organ and choirs, with a contemporary flair. At Flowing Grace you’ll find a fully contemporary service with a Praise band and modern music.

Should I bring anything?
This is entirely up to you. There are no expectations, just come as you are. You are welcome to bring a smile to share, but if you can’t manage a smile, not to worry, we strive to be empathetic and caring.

How should I dress?
The congregation will greet you with open minds and open hearts regardless of your exterior appearance. We are a diverse group and you will blend in whether you prefer a suit and tie or jeans and t-shirt.

What about Sunday school?
Sunday school classes for all ages are offered at both worship sites. At Flowing Grace Sunday school is at 9:00 a.m.; classes are held in the cafetorium (on the right just inside the doors) and the gymn (on the left).
At the Batavia campus, classes are held both at 9:00 and 10:30 a.m. Classrooms are located on the 2nd and 3rd floors. A complete list of classes and a map is available at the Welcome table in the Fellowship Hall (inside the Water Street entrance).  Details about Sunday school classes for adults

Expect3Are children welcome in worship?
Children are always welcome and encouraged to attend worship services.
Parents are also welcome to bring their children to the nursery during worship or Sunday school, where they may stay or leave the child in the caring hands of our Safe-Sanctuary trained staff.

What about weekday meetings and events?
All regular meetings and activities take place at the Batavia campus or other site, such as a home or restaurant. We meet at Flowing Grace on Sundays only, and a few additional dates throughout the year, such as the Easter Egg hunt on a Saturday.
Meetings at the Batavia campus are usually held in Fellowship Hall (Water Street entrance) or a third floor classroom.
Everyone is encouraged to join in wherever God is calling. On Sunday mornings we pass around clipboards with sign-up sheets for current opportunities. When you sign up you are not committing to join any group, you are simply showing your interest and will be contacted soon with all the details, at which time you can decide if this group or activity is suitable. It’s safe to sign up for anything and you’ll learn more about the church and meet more people the more you sign up!

Expect4Can I just call and ask my question in person?
Please do!  630-879-7060
We truly love hearing from you and will try to answer questions ranging from worship times to theology.
Some of our favorite questions are:  I was raised in a different denomination, how is the United Methodist church different or the same?  Is anyone studying the book of Hebrews?   I’m going through a really difficult time, can anyone there help?   I have some perfectly good items I can no longer use, any idea where I can donate them?  My kids and teen-agers are getting stir crazy, do you have anything fun for them to join?
