Small Groups

Welcome to Small Group Ministry at Batavia United Methodist Church!!!

Here are some FAQs about Small Group Ministry:

What is Small Group Ministry?

Small group ministry is the part of congregational life that is organized around relatively small groups of people. It helps provide an excellent way for our congregation to fulfill its mission, which is – Love God, Love Others, and Serve. Small groups are one of the best ways to help people become stronger in their Christian faith, train people in the work of Christian discipleship, and mobilize people to live and serve as the body of Christ.

Why are Small Groups important?

Small groups are a great way for a person to become an active participant in the life of the Church. Research shows that people learn best in intimate, interactive, clearly-focused settings that invite open, honest conversation; deep personal reflection; and that speak to the issues most relevant to the participants’ lives. The pathway of development as Christian disciples requires that we address some of the most fundamental questions in our lives, such as faith, meaning, and purpose. Small groups provide an ideal setting for such explorations.

Unfortunately, it is too easy for a person to be a part of a congregation and still feel lost and lonely and not really be engaged in Church life. Small groups help create opportunities to form lasting relationships and friendships within the body of Christ and are an easy way to start participating more fully in congregational life.
